'Hot' Color for 2011

January 27, 2011

Honeysuckle has been declared the ‘hot’ color for 2011. It will make a strong appearance in fashion, home décor and most importantly…weddings. Check out some tips below, on how to incorporate this hot hue into your wedding!

For the Dining Tables:

-       Dress the table in gunmetal gray and use honeysuckle as an accent with the napkins, table runner and seat cushion

-       Design the menu cards or table numbers on honeysuckle colored paper

-       Set the table with a large water goblet or pretty champagne flute in a honeysuckle hue – this will pop against the other clear glassware

-       For the centerpiece, use a honeysuckle hued vase or wrap a honeysuckle colored ribbon around the vase

For Food & Drink:

-       Serve a fun cocktail that is honeysuckle colored

-       Pass French fries in paper cones that are honeysuckle colored

-       Showcase a candy station with candy in varying shades of the honeysuckle color (pinks, reds, berry, etc.)

-       Accent the wedding cake with honeysuckle colored ribbon, floral or sugar flowers

-       Get monogrammed cocktail napkins in honeysuckle

-       Incorporate the Honeysuckle flavor into a sorbet or have a white tea and Honeysuckle specialty drink

Trend Alert

January 25, 2011

There is a big trend we’ve been noticing with our weddings lately – Square tables! The traditional round table is out. Consider seating two people per side for a total of 8 guests per table. Of, if you have a long guest list, tables with up to 12 guests will create the same effect. This layout complements many contemporary wedding themes and will take your décor to the next level. Complete the look with chic square dishes and use tea lights to create a cozy, comfortable atmosphere at the...

Year of the Pig?

December 21, 2010

For those of you who follow Chinese Zodiac, 2010 was the “Year of the Tiger.”  But, from what I’ve seen, 2010 should have been named the “Year of the Pig.”  After all, 2010 found me catering two weddings which featured whole roasted pig (one wedding is pictured above, photos courtesy of Matthew Whitlock/Zeta-Alpha Studio), dining on whole roasted pig at a wedding consultant’s dinner party, having dinner at the Purple Pig...you get the idea.  And then, there’s all of those rest...

Cutting and Stamping and Embossing….Oh My!

October 22, 2010

I recently had the opportunity to attend a “Cards and Cocktails” evening with a group of girl friends at Paper Source, a local favorite of ours for items like cute cards, specialty paper and craft supplies galore. We were invited to bring a bottle of wine and a snack to share. We met in the store after business hours for a mini holiday card-making workshop. After we reviewed the basics and were given the reigns to create our own cards, it got me thinking…what a GREAT way to add a litt...
